Andrew Hysell has devoted his career to helping underserved populations live healthier, more productive lives. As the founder and director of the KRR, Andrew has proven that he is truly a champion for children.
Andrew has led Reading Roadmap since its inception in 2013. With more then 20 years of experience in advocacy, fundraising, and campaign managing, his experience includes serving as the Associate Vice President for Policy and Advocacy for Save the Children’s U.S. Programs. In that role he oversaw public and private fundraising in excess of $15 million annually and served as the lead for policy change on issues impacting children in rural America.
Carol Hazen is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, account reconciliation and reporting. She oversees all accounting activities related to auditing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance and payroll. Carol brings a unique combination of government, non-profit, and academic sector experience with significant public policy and advocacy expertise.
Carol holds a B.S. and M.S. in political science from Southern Connecticut State University.
Family Engagement Director
Steven Thorpe is a Licensed Professional Counselor with Masters Degrees in Education, School Counseling, and Transformational Leadership. He has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, school counselor, consultant and brings decades of experience working with children, adolescents, and families.
As Family Engagement Program Director, he writes curriculum, trains facilitators, and provides ongoing support for the Reading Roadmap's Family Engagement programs. He specializes in helping children and parents develop better relationships by teaching social and emotional intelligence and parenting skills.
